Hangkid Help
Introduction and general overview
If you read through the following instructions, by the time you get to the end of them you’ll understand a lot of things about this game - we hope. Our suggestion is - start the game. If it’s still not clear, then look for us.
START the game here. (If you get the message, choose the "open it".)
You can feel free to use, experiment with, or modify the programme. We hope that even you can’t damage it beyond use.
Before anything can be deleted, you will be given a warning. Go ahead and get to know the game.
If you are reading this, then you have already fought your way through the introduction and the main titles - Congratulations !
And now, let’s see all the things that you can find here.
Exit…..
Quits the programme
instantly, definitively,
beyond recall - avoid pressing this. Instead, let’s get back to the
game.
Menu…..
Also quite simple - rolls
down the 4 buttons
of the menu board. The lowest button - CANCEL - can be used to pull
them all back.
And now, let’s see the main menu points.
Grand Prix.....If you wish to
play in competition mode in order to get on to the Toplist with your
own results, or to
see existing Toplists, then choose this. Details in the Toplist chapter.
Book….. It’s a bit
more complicated : Creating new dictionaries or enlarging existing
dictionaries etc.
Detailed in the last chapter.
And, of course, here you can change the languages or the different dictionaries as well.
At the start of the game, the list of dictionaries automatically rolls down. If you click on one of them, you can immediately play on it.
If you click on GO at such a time, you can continue with the same dictionary that you were using the last time.
What else do we have here ? Oh. Yes !
Go…..
so the game can start.
And here’s the HELP where you are now.
Attention ! You can only press the GO button if you have previously pulled back the Menu with the CANCEL.
Curtains Up.
At the top, you can see which dictionary you are playing with.
If you have been enjoying the sight for long enough, then
press go so you can , at last, really start.
Quite simple - by clicking on the letters in the order of your own choice, you have to write out the word in the indicated boxes.
You have 9 attempts at each word. By the tenth wrong try - it’s the end.
In the lower field, you can speed up the game. If you click on QUICKLY you can immediately see the guessed letters while, if you click on NORMAL, they appear from behind a screen.
Here you can also find a display of your results along with a few remarks.
If you faultlessly guess a word, then the game will assess that as being two correct hits, so you can achieve more than 100%.
If you guess it quickly enough ( whilst the boxes are still light green ) then you will get a bonus star. Five bonus stars will give you one more correct hit.
Of course, if you guess it faultlessly, then besides the two correct hits, you get no further bonus.
The words to be found out can only contain the letters you can find on the buttons so you can’t use the keyboard.
By typing in new dictionaries, you can even create differing ABCs - we will also explain that later.
In the next chapter we write about the competition levels you can compete on and then, of course, you can get your results on the Toplist.
Operating in practice mode (if you haven’t chosen any GP) you can play as long as you don’t get bored.
If you have had enough, then Exit - If you want to change the parameters of the game, then press MENU.
Our intention has been to keep the game’s operation simple - we hope we have succeeded.
We welcome all your remarks on our address.
And now let’s see what competitions you can take part in.
If you choose the GP button from the main menu, then you
can find which competition to enter and see the results as well.
You can participate in 3 different races.
SERIAL ….. What results
can you achieve from 20, 30 or 100 questions.
One records how many words you have guessed, while the other shows how many points you have got during that time. Good Luck.
PERIOD ….. What result
can you achieve in 10, 20, 30 or 60 minutes. Also, here you have 2
different Toplists.
tt (45) On one you have the number of correctly guessed words; one the other, the points you have achieved.
OK ….. The game goes
until you have 20, 50 or 100 correctly guessed words (almost
unbelievable) and here, also,
you have 2 different TOPLISTS: How much time did it take you or how
many points did you
get during that time.
You can view the results by categories. Altogether there
are 20 Toplists for each dictionary.
Of course, because there are different Toplists for each and every dictionary, you can measure your knowledge of each learned language.
You can delete all Toplists if you feel that you want to start again.
Creation of a new dictionary and other dictionary related tasks.
By clicking on this button, you’ll get to the most
complicated part of the programme.
You have to click here if you want to play using another already existing dictionary.
You have to click here if you want to create a new dictionary, or to enlarge the existing ones.
For the game, you can continue with the dictionary used in the last game or you can choose from the rolling down list, and click on a new dictionary.
If the GO, DELETE and CANCEL buttons appear - don’t be afraid - choose GO and it will start the required dictionary.
If you would rather continue with the previous dictionary, then press CANCEL.
If you press DELETE , no damage is immediately done as a WARNING will appear.
BUT - if you choose "YES" here, the programme will immediately delete the selected dictionary once and for all.
WARNING! This deletion is final and cannot be undone. You’ll lose the indicated dictionary for good.
Making of new
dictionaries
Write the name of the new dictionary in the displayed . If satisfied, click on SAVE.
Don’t be scared now - you have done nothing wrong - it’s just your programme asking questions.
In the appearing fields, you can see the existing ABCs - you can choose from them.
It might seem unnecessary, but different languages may require different ABCs.
By clicking on any of them, you can see the character set - if any of them are suitable, press SAVE and you can continue.
Often you will need to create new ones and the button "NEW ABC" is just for that.
You have 2 options. You press "NEW ABC" AFTER you have chosen an ABC from the existing ones.
At that point, after you have typed in the new name, you can create the one that best suits you by changing the old character set.
You can delete in each field with the "Del" button leaving the characters you want.
In the same way you can put new characters in every field, or you can use the keyboard or the code ASCII.
Once you’ve written. deleted or exchanged all the characters as required, then you can put them into sequence by pressing the button "ORDER".
When you have finished all that, you can leave this part by pressing SAVE.
Your other option is to redefine all the characters and, for that, you have to click on "NEW ABC" BEFORE you choose another ABC.
You will get totally empty fields where you can put the characters that you will need.
You can put them into sequence as before, then continue with SAVE.
Either for aesthetic reasons, or from necessity, you can also use character sets (eg Russian / Chinese)
Click on the button "NEW FONT" then type the name of the required letter type in the appearing fields. ( You find these under Windows/Font on your computer).
If you’ve chosen correctly, then the programme will immediately show you the letters of the chosen TTF.
Now you can create the letters of the new ABC with this new set of characters’
It may seem to be complicated but, believe me, it is not that hard.
We advise that you first make a sample named dictionary and experiment with that.
Once you can handle it, or if you make a mistake, you can simply delete it and make a new one.
( Reminder - from the list rolling down by the "BOOK" button, you choose the one to be deleted, then press "DELETE" followed by "YES".
Just like that, you can remove the wrong ABC with the button "REMOVE ABC"
WARNING! This also is a final deletion.
If you’ve successfully defined the ABC, an old one on its own, or created a new one, then "SAVE".
What follows here is identical to what you can find by pressing button
" + WORD " so we won’t go into details here.
You can add words to the actual dictionary in the above
field.
You can fill up the new dictionaries in the same way.
If you click on it, 2 fields will swim in. In the one on the left, you can write the words and, from the one on the right, you can choose the matching pictures.
By the list of pictures you will see the "PICTURES" library of this game. Here are all the pictures that the programme uses.
For that reason - DON"T delete from this library or you might regret it.
Of course - you can look for other pictures in other libraries, or even on other drives.
If you’ve found the picture and you save it with the matching word, then the programme will automatically copy it into its own library, and use it with no problem from here on.
Because of this , you can also search for pictures on CDs - the programme will save the picture, you can take the CD out and it will still work.
ATTENTION! You can only use bmp or wmf formatted pictures. Sorry.
If you still want to use pictures with other formats, then you will have to alter it first with a drawing programme to be able to use it here.
To make pictures in our programme, it is best for you to draw them using a small drawing programme. Ours were made the same way.
To add a picture to the dictionary, you have to write what you see in the field on the left. This can only be a word of course.
Use the letters in there - they are the same as the ones you will see during the game.
You can use the keyboard, but if you mistype a character, you will never by able to guess the word.
When you have the word and the picture, then click on "SAVE" ( or in the textfield "ENTER").
It is possible that the right hand field (picture) will warn you that you already have a picture with that name in the library.
Its possible, if you’ve just imported a new picture.
To avoid chaos, you will have to assign a new name for the imported picture. The program will remember the new name and file the picture away under that title.
If you no longer need any particular word, then click on it (in the left field) and then: DELETE, YES.
Do not delete pictures as other dictionaries might be using them. Deleting a picture from one dictionary also deletes it from the others.
Have fun! And if you have any problems please contact us:
